ACTIVATIONS: a tool for BIG IMPACT

Have you ever had a booth at a tradeshow or wanted to make a bigger impact with your audience but wasn’t sure what to do? Bring on the ACTIVATIONS.

Activations are a great opportunity for big and small businesses to make an impact, get some attention and engagement and HAVE SOME FUN!
Over the last couple of years activations and in personal engagement wasn’t really possible but its time for a comeback.

An activation can fit your budget as long as your remember, the bigger the idea the bigger the price tag.

A solid activation takes time and proper planning and yes, can carry a higher overall price tag than just a newspaper or meta ad. There is staffing and building, giveaways etc but the hope is that you will gain more unpaid media coverage/ word of the month because of your efforts AND build stronger connections with the audience than just a flat ad.

The best activations are ones that the public can engage with – “do it for the Gram.” Your not just standing around handing out coupons…

It is creative, on brand, stands out and engages with the audience .

A local example of a small in-store activation was the @townsendbutcher Angel Tree in partnership with the Child and Family Services of Grand Erie.

Not all activations need to be partnered with a Charity. There have been some pretty amazing ones done by Destination Marketing Organizations. A number of years back Halifax tourism set up a full ocean scene in Toronto so tourists could try it out a visit. It even included the sand… Why make a flat photo backdrop when you can get more attention with a 3D interactive experience?
